Gianyar, FLUNUD.ac.id – As part of efforts to equip students with knowledge of labor law before entering the workforce, a community service activity titled “Introduction to Legal Aspects in the Preparation of Employment Contracts as a Means of Preventing Disputes in Companies for Prospective Workers in the Tourism Sector” was held on Wednesday (06/08/25) at SMK Pariwisata Kertayasa, Gianyar.

The outreach activity was well-received by the Principal of SMK Pariwisata Kertayasa, who expressed appreciation for the event’s organization. The Principal hopes similar activities can be conducted on an ongoing basis so that students are prepared not only technically but also legally for entering the workforce. “Such legal knowledge is crucial to prevent the children from being easily exploited in the workplace,” he stated. The presentation was delivered by lecturers from the Faculty of Law, University of Udayana (Nyoman Satyayudha Dananjaya, SH., MKn., Ph.D., Kadek Agus Sudiarawan, S.H., M.H., and Made Cinthya Puspita Shara, S.H., M.H.), accompanied by student representatives as members of the community service program. During the presentation session, the speakers emphasized the importance of understanding the contents of an employment contract from the outset of the employment relationship, including the rights and obligations of the parties, types of contracts (PKWT/PKWTT), probationary periods, wage provisions, and termination clauses.

As explained by the speakers, an employment contract is not merely an administrative formality but an essential legal instrument to protect both parties and prevent potential disputes that may arise in the future. Therefore, vocational high school students, as future workers in the tourism sector, are expected to be able to read, understand, and, if necessary, ask questions about every clause of the contract before signing it.

The participants' enthusiasm was very high throughout the event. At the end of the session, the organizing committee conducted an interactive quiz with prizes to test the students' understanding of the material presented. The atmosphere became even more lively as the students actively answered the questions with confidence. This activity is part of the implementation of the university's tri-dharma, particularly in the field of community service, carried out by the Faculty of Law at Udayana University to bridge the gap between the academic world and practical needs in society.
