ACADEMIC SEMINAR ON MARITIME SECURITY EXCEPTIONS AND THE SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS: SAFEGUARDING SOVEREIGNTY WHILE ADVANCING GLOBAL JUSTICE

Denpasar, Faculty of Law, Udayana University held an International Seminar with the theme Maritime Security Exceptions and the Sustainable Development Goals: Safeguarding Sovereignty while Advancing Global Justice, at the Puri Nusa Indah Hotel Denpasar, on Thursday (5/2/2026)

The speaker at this seminar was Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mohd Hazmi Bin Mohd Rusli from the Faculty of Sharia and Law, Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia, who presented a paper entitled Maritime Security, Sovereignty, and Historical Injustice: Lessons from the Sultanate of Kedah 

(18th–19th Century), Dr. Tjokorda Istri Diah Widyantari Pradnya Dewi, SH, MH, Lecturer at the Faculty of Law, Udayana University, presented material entitled From Security to Sustainability: Integrating SDGs into Maritime Security Exceptions in Indonesian Waters, and a team of doctoral students in law, including A.A.M.N. Panca Septiadi, Putu Devi Yustisia Utami, I Gusti Ayu Agung Dwi Candra, Nyoman Arya Kusuma Wardana, Putu Edgar Tanaya with the material Illegal, Unreported, and Unregulated Fishing (IUU) as a Threat to Maritime Justice. This seminar was moderated by Dr. I Made Budi Arsika, SH., LLM.

The event was opened by the Dean of the Faculty of Law, Udayana University, Prof. Dr. Putu Gede Arya Sumertayasa, SH., MH. Also present at the event were the vice deans of the Faculty of Law, Udayana University, the program coordinators, and lecturers of the Faculty of Law, Udayana University.
