Denpasar, FLUNUD.ac.id – Faculty of Law UNUD held a Workshop on Writing Articles and Developing Novelty Dissertation Standards on Wednesday (30/11/2022) in the Video Conference Room of UNUD Faculty of Law Denpasar Campus. The event was opened directly by the Deputy Dean I for Academic and Planning Affairs (Dr. Desak Putu Dewi Kasih, SH., M.Hum).

The Workshop on Writing Articles and Setting Novelty Standards presented speakers from the Faculty of Law, Hasanuddin University (UNHAS), Prof. Dr. Irwansyah, SH, MH He is a Professor in the field of Environmental Law, Socio-Legal, Research Methods as well as an Assessor for the National Journal. The participants who attended were the Head of the Senate FH UNUD (Dr. I Dewa Gede Palguna, SH, M.Hum.), Lecturers, Journal Managers in the FH UNUD environment and S3 students of the Doctor of Law Study Program FH UNUD) were very enthusiastic about attending the workshop because of the material given is very interesting.

Prof. Irwansyah explained the strategy for compiling journal articles and dissertations based on novelty (new findings) in the development of legal science. Novelty can be designed from the start, starting from the title, abstract, introduction, discussion and conclusion. There are several ways to find novelty for a scientific paper by examining the gaps in theory, method, approach, year, location, sample and population. However, there are several differences between dissertations and journal articles: number of pages, use of definitions in dissertations and conclusions in journal articles which usually only consist of 1 paragraph (3-4 sentences).

The participants asked several questions, such as how to compose a legal analysis/argumentation of a dissertation, strategies for writing on new topics (no previous research had been done), how to determine the right theory to use as a knife for analyzing problem formulation, the relationship between problem formulation and methods and approaches. At the end of the event, Prof. Irwansyah presented his newest book as a prize with the title "Legal Research, Choice of Methods & Article Writing Practice" to one of the questioners.
