THE 2026 VILLAGE DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM OPENING CEREMONY WAS HELD AT THE GIANYAR REGENT’S OFFICE

Gianyar, The opening ceremony for the 2026 Village Development Program was held on Wednesday (April 1, 2026) at the Main Meeting Room of the Gianyar Regent’s Office. The 2026 Village Development Program is one of the initiatives under the Impactful Campus Program, which is a transformation of the Merdeka Kampus Merdeka program. This year’s Bina Desa initiative marks the third time the Faculty of Law has collaborated with the Gianyar Regency Government, partnering with 21 villages located across four districts: Gianyar, Sukawati, Payangan, and Ubud. 

Unlike previous years, the opening of the 2026 Bina Desa program was conducted simultaneously at a single location with the permission of the Regent of Gianyar. The event was attended by the Regent of Gianyar, represented by the Expert Staff for Economic and Development Affairs of Gianyar Regency (Ni Made Mirnawati, S.STP., M.Si), the Dean of the UNUD Faculty of Law, represented by the Vice Dean for Student Affairs (Dr. I Nyoman Bagiastra, S.H., M.H.) along with his staff, and leaders within Gianyar Regency, including the Gianyar Police Chief, the Commander of Kodim 1616/Gianyar, the President of the Gianyar District Court, the Head of the Gianyar District Attorney’s Office, and relevant agencies under the Gianyar Regency Government. The event also invited the Head of the Bali Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, the Chair of the Udayana University Impact Campus, Village Heads, DPL representatives, and student representatives from the Village Development Program.

The 2026 FH UNUD Bina Desa Program deployed a total of 315 students divided into 21 groups out of the 28 total Bina Desa groups at Udayana University. Some of the student programs implemented in the 2026 Bina Desa program are continuations of previous Bina Desa programs; however, this year’s Bina Desa includes additional programs aligned with Udayana University’s agenda, specifically waste management and initiatives focused on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Another program is the paralegal/legal aid post in the village, a collaboration with the Bali Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, to collect data and document the outcomes of dispute resolutions in the village through the legal aid post.

In his remarks, the Regent of Gianyar expressed his highest appreciation for the implementation of the Village Development Program, which provides an opportunity to foster cooperation between the government and academia for regional development. The hope is that students can gain opportunities for community-based learning, cultivate empathy, hone problem-solving skills, develop effective communication skills, and make tangible contributions to the community.

The official launch of the 2026 Bina Desa program was marked by the planting of a Kayon tree, performed by the Economic and Development Advisor of Gianyar Regency, accompanied by the Vice Dean for Student Affairs of the Faculty of Law, Udayana University (FH UNUD), the Vice Dean for General Affairs and Finance of the Faculty of Law, Udayana University, the Coordinator of the Undergraduate Program in Law at the Faculty of Law, Udayana University, and the district heads within the program’s implementation area.
