Cooperation of MPR RI - FH UNUD Organizes FGD on Strengthening the Regional Representative Council

Badung, FLUNUD.ac.id - Team 5 of the MPR RI Study Agency in collaboration with FH Unud held a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) with the topic "Strengthening Regional Representatives (DPD)" on Tuesday (08/07/2024) at the Mahogany Room, Mercure Bali Legian. Present was the Vice Chairman of the MPR RI Study Board (Ajbar) to give a speech and continued with remarks from the Dean of FH Unud (which in this case was represented by the Coordinator of the Information Management and Cooperation Unit).

Legal studies on the strengthening of DPD delivered by 4 speakers of FH Unud, namely: Prof. Dr. I Gede Yusa, S.H., M.H, Prof. Dr. I Wayan Parsa, S.H., M.Hum, Dr. Jimmy Zeravianus Usfunan, S.H., M.H. and Edward Thomas Lamury Hadjon, S.H., LL.M. The presentation of the study results was discussed with members of Team 5 of the MPR RI Study Board: Prof. Hendrawan Supratikno (Member/F-PDIP), Drs. Supriyanto (Member/F-Gerindra), Dr. H. Jon Erizal, S.E. (Member/F-PAN), Sri Wulan, S.E. (Member/F-Nasdem) and Anna Latuconsina (Member/Group of DPD).

The discussion was very active regarding the legal basis of DPD, duties and authority, performance, obstacles and challenges in practice. The issue arises whether it is possible to strengthen the DPD (additional authority) without amending the 1945 Constitution or only amending Act No. 13 Year 2019 on the Third Amendment to Act No. 17 Year 2014 on the People's Consultative Assembly, the Regional Representatives Council, and the Regional Representatives Council.
