Gianyar, FLUNUD.ac.id - Saturday (14/12/2024) in order to protect Communal Intellectual Property (KIK), Traditional Cultural Expression of Peremas Dance in Sukawati Traditional Village, MBKM Team Bina Desa Sukawati 2024 collaborated with the Regional Research and Innovation Agency (BRIDA) Gianyar to organize a Focus Group Discussion (FGD). This discussion involved various stakeholders, such as Village Officials of both Sukawati Traditional Village and Dinas Sukawati, Jero Mangku or Pengelingsir, as traditional leaders who have authority in preserving local culture, Art Leaders and Academics who have a deep understanding of this tradition.

The purpose of this activity is to provide an understanding to the people of Sukawati Traditional Village about the importance of protecting their cultural heritage from the threat of outside claims and irresponsible use. Peremas Dance, as part of the cultural identity of the Sukawati Traditional Village community, has philosophical, artistic and spiritual values that need to be maintained. Therefore, the preservation of this dance is not only the responsibility of certain individuals or groups, but also requires the support of the community of origin as a whole.

In the implementation of this FGD, FH Unud Lecturers (Prof. Dr. Ni Ketut Supasti Dharmawan, S.H, M.Hum, LLM and Putu Aras Samsithawrati, S.H., LLM) and BRIDA Gianyar Representative (I Nyoman Mudita, S.T) provided an explanation of the importance of legal protection of Traditional Cultural Expressions, including registration mechanisms, especially on inventory forms that must be filled in completely and clearly.

Through this initiative, it is hoped that Peremas Dance can gain proper recognition, both at national and international levels. This protection is not only to prevent outside claims, but also to strengthen the position of Peremas Dance as one of the important elements in Balinese culture, especially in Desa Adat Sukawati.
