Socialization and FGD on Legal Protection of Intellectual Property Rights for Sukawati Village Arts and Culture

Sukawati, FLUNUD.ac.id - The MBKM Bina Desa Sukawati team has carried out socialization and FGD activities “Legal Protection of Intellectual Property Rights Against Sukawati Village Art and Culture” at the end of June 2025 which took place in the Meeting Room of the Sukawati Village Office, Kec. Sukawati, Gianyar. In this socialization and FGD, it was attended by three speakers: Prof. Dr. Ni Ketut Supasti Dharmawan, S.H., M.Hum., L.LM., Mrs. Putu Aras Samsithawrati, S.H., L.LM. (Lecturer of FH Unud) and I Nyoman Mudita, S.T., M.AP. (Representative of Gianyar Regional Research and Innovation Agency). The participants consisted of Perbekel Desa Sukawati and its staff, Bendesa Adat Desa Sukawati and its staff and the community and artists in Sukawati Village. This activity was also attended by Made Gde Subha Karma Resen, S.H., M.Kn., (Koprodi S1 Ilmu Hukum FH Unud) and Putu Devi Yustisia Utami, S.H., M.Kn. (Field Supervisor Lecturer).
This activity is motivated by the fact that there are still many personal Intellectual Property (IP) created by artists in Sukawati Village and communal IP that have not been recorded so that they are easily misused or taken without permission from the creator or copyright holder. This can cause losses to the creator and Sukawati Village both morally and economically and threaten the sustainability of the culture itself. With legal protection of Personal and Communal IP, the economic rights and moral rights of the creators and Sukawati Village can obtain legal certainty, and prevent abuse. This socialization conveyed the importance of legal protection of personal and communal IP in Sukawati Village in order to preserve local arts and culture and ensure that Personal IP remains the property of the creator and Communal IP remains the property of the Sukawati Village community.
