Denpasar, FLUNUD.ac.id – On Tuesday (29/09/2026), Lecturers from the Faculty of Law, Udayana University, Dewa Ayu Dian Sawitri, S.H., M.H. and Putu Aras Samsithawrati, S.H., LL.M., collaborated with RRI Pro 1 Denpasar on a broadcast dedicated to Gender Mainstreaming and Inclusion, featuring the topic "Trademark Protection as an Effort for the Empowerment and Legal Protection of Female MSME Entrepreneurs in Bali.
The broadcast, held live at the RRI Pro 1 Denpasar studio, lasted for one hour in an interactive format hosted by two announcers, Ms. Hapsarina Tjoa and Ms. Santi. Through the session, information regarding trademarks and the importance of trademark registration—specifically for women running MSMEs in Bali—was widely disseminated. Today, women are actively involved in various creative sectors producing economically valuable works, such as culinary products and handicrafts. As a domain of Intellectual Property law, trademarks play a crucial role as distinctive signs capable of distinguishing goods and/or services traded by one party from those of another.
During the broadcast, it was emphasized that MSMEs urgently need to register their trademarks to secure legal protection for women entrepreneurs, particularly because Indonesia adheres to the first-to-file protection system, where legal rights are granted to the party that files first. The initiative aims to encourage female MSME owners to confidently register their trademarks without delay. Furthermore, the speakers highlighted that government bodies, including the Ministry of Law and Human Rights (Kemenkumham), the Directorate General of Intellectual Property (DJKI), and the Regional Innovation and Research Agency (BRIDA), offer numerous assistance programs to guide MSMEs through the trademark registration process.
